continually, rejoice always, give thanks, for this
is Gods will for you in Christ Jesus. He said,
“When you do those things, when you take
care of doing His will that’s been made plain,
then you get to do what you want.” And my
husband was like, “What do you mean I get
to do what I want? That sounds wrong and
selfish.” He said, “No, because then your work
to do will line up with who He’s created and
called you to be because you are taking care of
what He has already told you to do. Then, all of
a sudden, the passions that you have will come
from Him because you’re in step with Him.” The
drive that I have, well that’s from Him because
I’m in step with Him. And that’s something that
my husband has clung to all of these years and
its something that really helped me back in the
early stages. I’m going to take care of what has
been made plain to me, and then I get to do
what I want because my want-to will line up
with who He is.
[WM] Just this past May, you and your
husband Bernie hosted a virtual concert from
Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium. Over 500,000
folks streamed the free event, which also
raised over $150,000 in donations for Hope for
Justice, the anti-modern slavery cause that you
co-founded. It was a free and benefit concert
on Facebook. Danny Gokey also joined you
and Bernie for the final number, which was
a magnificent performance of “The Prayer”.
Please tell us about this night, the non-profit,
and some of the fallout, both good and some
surprisingly malicious, from that night?
The Prayer
[Natalie] Right, I feel like that is the
understatement of the century actually. An
unprecedented time that, in my lifetime, I’ve
never lived through. We’ve got three daughters,
and I tell my daughters all the time to just try
and sit in this moment and make notes in your
mind and your hearts, because your children
and their children are going to ask you about
2020, they’re going to study it in their books.
This is a moment in history.
When quarantine first started for us back in
March, my kid’s last day was March 6 th and they
never went back (laughs) and all of a sudden I
became a home school mom and all of these
things that so many people now relate to. But
when quarantine started for us, one of the first
things my husband and I did, I remember it was
the second night in quarantine and we thought,
why don’t we just record a song? There is
going to be a lot of content, that was one thing
we knew, everyone is going to be on Facebook
