headphones, the depth and fidelity of the audio
the BT-Pro V2 delivered was nothing short
of outstanding. If you’ve used a Lighting to
1/8 th inch mini cable to connect headphones
or to run into a mixer, you’ll appreciate the
freedom the device gives you. Since you’re no
longer physically tethered to a mixer, this box
is especially useful for church events where
there tends to be a lot of running around and
testing of various input devices. Being able to
remotely control playlists is hugely convenient
for creating a great event, while simultaneously
reducing the stress factor if you’re the lone
tech.
CONNECTIONS
In addition to a pair of balanced XLR Outputs,
the unit also features an 1/8 th inch Headphone
Output, which is convenient for testing your
audio runs without running into the mains.
For my tests, I connected a pair of PreSonus
studio monitors via a pair of XLR to balanced
¼” cables. As noted above, the audio fidelity
was awesome.
POWER
Each of the XLR outputs can be phantom
powered by your console, or you can use the
USB C input on the face of the unit. Please note
that this is a power only port and does not carry
any audio.
SUM TO MONO
If you’re running short on channels, the Mono
Button enables you to sum the stereo outputs
to mono. If you or your team is recording its
tracks, this is also convenient for testing phase
coherency on your mixes!
GROUND LIFT
If by chance you’re new to DI boxes, chances
are you’ll soon come to appreciate the Ground
Lift Button, which is nestled between the XLR
Outputs on the back side of the box. This
magic button will almost always eliminate the
show stopping hum resulting from the ground
loops that often occur when connecting pieces
of gear to DI boxes.
OUTPUT LEVEL
Last but in no way least, the Output Level offers
an additional layer of control. Whether placed at
the stage box or console, this is great at setting
levels as well as fine tuning them during service
should the need arise.
CONCLUSION
When tested I found this box to be rock-solid
in every regard. While it is designed to run in
‘line of sight’ conditions, I was able to walk my
iPhone two rooms away without any dropouts.
The sturdy metal case encloses plastic casing
designed to ensure superior reception. If you’re
running playlists from a smart phone or tablet,
or audio from a Bluetooth-enabled laptop
or computer, the Radial BT-Pro V2 utilizes a
number of smart features to deliver a range of
solutions to common problems.
