CUT CAPO
GOOD TO ME | Mitch Bohannon
In these new times, are we acting out of fear
or out of caution? This is the question I posed
to my brand-new sixth graders on the first day
of school. I teach English / Language Arts and
coach at our local junior high school. Ours was
one of the first schools in our region to return
to face-to-face learning. Honestly, it felt really
militant as we are all in masks and all of my
desks are scattered as far apart as possible.

With every mountain I climb, I love You more and more
I first asked the students to explain the
difference between saying a glass is half-full as
opposed to being half-empty. Then I paralleled
that to the first question of whether we were
acting out of fear or caution. My goal was to
set the students at ease while addressing the
obvious and giving students an opportunity to
voice any worries.
Do we as the church see the glass as half-full
or half-empty? Are we, the church, living out
of fear or caution? “I won’t back down to this
fear. I won’t cave into this doubt. No matter
what comes I’ll shout You’re so good, You’re so
good.” I believe that we as worship musicians
and leaders have a special opportunity to
remind the church in the midst of global fear
that God’s goodness is bigger than anything
we can fear.
This new song from Gateway Worship plays
like a big anthem. It’s super easy to play and
is really sing-able for the folks you lead week
in and week out. This song would work with a
single acoustic or a full band.

So, in the words of Gloria Gaither, “Let the
church be the church, let the people rejoice.
Oh, we've settled the question, We've made
our choice. Let the anthems ring out, songs of
victory swell.l For the church triumphant is alive
and well”
