Our regular readers know what a fan of Roland keyboards I have been for decades and this time they have pulled from their popular FP-30 and FP-30x digital pianos, combined it with the impressive Piano Sphere app and then added forward thinking design elements that delivers quite a good combination of performance and value. If you are curious about this FP-40, I would recommend downloading the free Roland Piano Sphere app. You can see for yourself all the benefits awaiting you. The app covers teaching you songs, real time feedback on your playing, builds practice habits and
tracks your progress. The teaching applications are designed for all levels – beginner, returning players to pro. Way cool!
Roland states it is a keyboard that delivers a new benchmark in sound quality, premium key action, and tools to keep you motivated. I would not only agree with that, but I would also add other applications as well including a solid green-room keyboard for the worship team to warm up to before they take the platform, a solid stand-alone utility unit to take to home Bible studies, church retreats, prison outreaches and retirement homes.
Plus, we are a training magazine, and I don’ t want to miss the point that the FP-40 is a tool to help develop new keys players in your worship teams. Not just the adult teams but the youth bands as well. We did a survey before of 1,100 churches( small, medium and large) that present modern worship music at their services and 38 % of them had youth groups in a separate part of their build with a youth band playing modern worship music. The FP-40 is a good youth band tool. It is affordable, has that training aspect to it and is portable. Anytime you can give the youth a solid opportunity to learn piano skills you are training your next adult worship band keys player for the future.
What makes this FP-40 so versatile for your ministry applications?
Mobility: The upward facing redesigned builtin speakers would easily fill up any small to medium-size room without plugging into a P. A. system( thus the home Bible studies, retirement homes and other outreaches).
Sound Quality: That same speaker system delivers quality built-in sounds. Several great“ meat and potatoes” acoustic and electric piano and organ samples are on-board and easy to access. The Piano Reality technology supports players by authentically reproducing the living response and complex tonal colors of a genuine acoustic piano. Stereo( mono) outputs take your sounds to your P. A. system.
Another good application of this Roland keyboard? The FP-40 is compatible with headset microphones, simplifying performance streaming and video creation.
Using the built-in headset mic input into the FP- 40, what if you can send a practice video to your entire worship team playing through the
