SOUND CHECK
MINISTRY MOMENTS & MUSICAL MEMORIES … FAR OUT!
24 years ago, the Lord gave me two good ideas that I am so glad I didn’ t miss. He may have had to spoon-feed them to me( I’ m not sure), but I do acknowledge that I got them from Him. Thank you, Lord!
One was to start publishing Worship Musician magazine right alongside our Christian Musician Magazine. The tagline for Worship Musician was“ Practical Help for Worship Teams.” That essence of the publication still rings true. After a few years the two magazines merged into one; we kept the name Worship Musician, and the tagline became # BetterBySunday.
The second idea back then was to start the Christian Musician Summit conferences with my friend Matt Kees. Matt was a worship leader at a local church( not to mention he is the layout designer for our magazines). He had been doing a regional conference called“ Worship More” with a network of local leaders he started called the Puget Sound Worship Leader Network. What has emerged from Matt’ s conference and my desire to see the magazines come to life with the writers all together in person has been remarkable to watch over the years. We have produced 40 conferences in 5 different states, each with different sizes and successes. But the bottom line is that at each one— no matter the size— the Lord has been present and encouraged His people!
The tagline for CMS has been“ Improving Skill and Inspiring Talent.” We have since added on Ministry Moments and Musical Memories because over these past two dozen years, we’ ve been witness to what God can do with the musicians of his Church when we gather together to give Him glory.
We aim to train the entire team at these conferences— worship leaders, vocalists, guitarists, bassists, keyboard players and drummers, as well as tech teams and songwriters. We also love to have our“ Bringin’
Down the House Band” step out musically and share their talent.
If all of this sounds good to you, here is the elevator pitch … Please consider being a part of it this year, November 6 & 7 in Tacoma, WA, with some special intensives on November 5.
Join Paul Baloche, Canaan Baca( Capitol Music), Emmy Rose( Bethel Music), Lloyd Nicks( co-writer of Grammy-winning“ That’ s My King” performed by CeCe Winans), and Danny and the Fig Atones for some of those Ministry Moments and Musical Memories! Plus our Bringin’ Down the House Band this year features Zoro on drums, Norm Stockton on bass, Michael Hodge on guitar, and Ed Kerr on keys. Check out all our artists and clinicians on our website.
Plus, as mentioned above, we have one-day intensives for vocals, guitar, bass, keys, and audio happening the day before( November 5).
We would love to host you and your team at the Christian Musician Summit!
