I have found a guitar that offers everything I usually gravitate away from. But the way Eastman presents it I am smitten. I like it. What’ s happening here? Let me explain it, I am also going to name names in this review. I normally don’ t do that either, but this Fullertone electric guitar warrants it. In a crowded field at this price point- the Eastman stands tall.
For years you have heard me say that the PRS SE overseas electric guitars are the best guitars under $ 1,000.00 that you can buy. Now in that category they have good company with this FullerTone.
I usually am a bit uncomfortable playing offset body guitars. Fender’ s Jazzmaster and Jaguars for some reason just feel awkward to me. I only play Stratocaster and Telecaster shaped electrics exclusively. That is until now. Eastman’ s offset here feels very comfortable. What gives?
The Fullertone series of offsets has a few different pick-up configurations / options for you. In this review I have the FT-Offset62-DR. The DR stands for the color Dakota Red and they make offer a Gold color as well.
Let’ s breakdown the elements of this model that I have here in my hands.
Body Shape: This offset body shape may be inspired by the old guard, but still feels original and true to itself at the same time. Eastman’ s patented FullerTone long-tenon 2-bolt neck-tobody connection works well and is remarkably sturdy making it satisfying to play. An electric guitar luthier friend of mine was super impressed with the not only the 2-bolt design but also the contoured shape of how the neck joint joins the body. Well done!
Neck: The neck has all the quality aspects to it that you would hope for in a high-end guitar. Roasted Maple C shape neck, Rosewood fingerboard, 24 Jescar stainless steel frets, 12” radius, 25.5” scale and satin-treated neck. This all culminates in supreme playing feel. They totally win here regarding the neck, and the headstock design cannot get confused with a well-known brand from Orange County.
Pickups: Again, with my Strat and Tele lifestyle I wouldn’ t normally play Gold Foil
