FEATURES
heads are Fender Deluxe locking with short posts that stay closer to the headstock that matches the vibe of the form fit string tree.
For electronics, Fender went with their Pure Vintage’ 51 Single-coil Tele pickups for vintage tones. The 3-position blade pickup selector is cut into the chrome plate at an angle so it is easier to access your pickup choices while playing. The Ultra Luxe Vintage Telecaster also contains S-1 pickup switching. I’ m a big fan of this system as you push in the hidden top button on your volume control it delivers series wiring for a more robust fuller Tele sound.
Plugged in, it is easily the smoothest playing Fender Telecaster I have ever laid hands on. The Modern“ D” shaped neck paired with the medium jumbo stainless-steel frets and rounded edges on the fretboard are a dream to play. Sound wise, the Pure Vintage’ 51 Singlecoil pickups provide traditional telecaster tones without the hum or noise that real vintage pickups give you. The S-1 switching provides near Stratocaster sounds and definitely warms up the guitar for chording and backing vocalists.
The Fender American Ultra Luxe Vintage 50’ s Telecaster has the look of a 50’ s style Tele with features and modern player requirements of a custom shop instrument. Priced at $ 2,999.99, I at first questioned the price tag that Fender set on the Ultra Luxe Tele … until I played it and plugged it in. The body contours, locking tuners, 6-saddle bridge and S-1 pickup switching elevate the Fender American Ultra Luxe Vintage 50’ s Telecaster to the next level. And it can possibly do the same with your playing thanks to the effortless neck features.
If you are looking for one Telecaster that can do it all, stay in tune, sound great and still have a vintage look for the average listener, this is your guitar. On the other hand, if you are a traditionalist who prefers big fat Tele necks, noisy electronics and challenging intonation then the Ultra Luxe will not thrill you. This guitar is aimed at modern players who require performance and features but appreciate the original aesthetics that Leo Fender created from the beginning.
I highly recommend that you play one for yourself and plug into an amp to see what you think. The Fender American Ultra Luxe Vintage 50’ s Telecaster is available in Butterscotch Blonde, as reviewed, or White Blonde Heirloom finishes. Also in the American Ultra Luxe Vintage
