NEURO 3: The excellent new Source Audio Neuro 3 app is free and features built-in looped sounds, allowing you to program and explore all Source Audio pedals directly on your computer without needing to plug them in. There are over 10,000 presets with built-in Soundcheck. Any of the nineteen Source Audio pedals can be reviewed and programmed using any of the 22 prerecorded clips, including guitars, keyboards, drums, and basses. This is such a great app. I’ m not aware of any other company that offers something quite as good. You can upload and save your own presets to share with the community and download presets from others. It’ s super inspiring and allows you to explore sounds and ideas you might not come up with on your own.
ENGINES: Encounter has two engines: Delay and Reverb. The Delay has Helix, Kaleidoscope, EchoVerb, Drum Echo, Resonant and Noise Tape settings. These are unique, sometimes otherworldly delays. The Reverb side has Hypersphere, Shimmers, Trem Verb, Reverse, Lo-Fi and Swell. Lots of options! These two engines can also be set in either order and as parallel, series, or split output configurations. There are numerous, almost endless, deep parameters accessible on the app.
chose some of them to add to my library. One of the cool things is that the presets are saved with one of the 22 pre-recorded clips. You can easily switch to a different clip, edit directly on the app, and save your changes. This is nextlevel stuff. After choosing a bunch I liked to add to my library, I did some editing and then“ burned” some to my pedal using the app. A screen appears to place the preset in one of the 128 slots available inside the pedal memory. I ultimately chose four of my favorite presets for the first four slots that I would use live and could access directly on the pedal.
MY TAKEAWAY: This is one of the coolest pedals ever. I’ ve seen some people online saying it’ s just like the Source Audio Collider, which is also a delay / reverb pedal. It’ s a whole new level, and a very different beast. For worship musicians, you will love this pedal for its ambient textures. It features the latest and greatest creative features all in one pedal. Don’ t worry about not having a standard combo for specific songs or genres. You can achieve a normal-sounding vibe by using, for example, the Noise Tape and Trem Verb together. The real, authentic, creative modern sauce is waiting for you to explore and use. I’ m personally crazy about the Helix and Kaleidoscope delay algorithms, and love Hypersphere and, of course, the Shimmers. You will love this pedal. If you’ re just curious, download the new Neuro 3 editor. It’ s free, and you can have fun checking out Encounter and the community presets along with any of the Source Audio pedals here.

IN USE: I’ m always excited to check out anything by Source Audio. These guys are creative and innovative. I added Encounter to my fly rig to replace the current delay and reverb pedals. It’ s super easy to get around on, and after messing with the pedal itself for a while, I downloaded the new Neuro 3 app. This app works on any Mac / PC laptop or iOS / Android device, allowing you to edit the pedal efficiently and access many more internal parameters than are available on the pedal itself. You can easily assign CC and PC changes for MIDI, listen to the factory presets, and audition custom ones from the community. I first listened to the factory presets on my computer and added a few to my library. I then went to the community presets and
