HOW THE RIPPLES OF KINGDOM IMPACT BEGIN | Yancy
I recently was at a ministry conference . As I reflected on the time my Spirit rejoiced . Something that stood out in my conversations were interactions with young leaders . Over the course of those few days I was witness to young people leaning in to learn about leading kids in worship . I encountered a group of leaders in a room with anticipation . You could feel it in the air . This encouraged me greatly . Why ? Because this generation needs to be reached . We need Christians that are ready to rise up and get their hands dirty proclaiming the Gospel .
One of the young leaders I had met had recently graduated from a university with a degree in children ’ s ministry . I was a bit shocked when she told me that in all her classes , she had never once been taught about children ’ s worship . She had experienced a class about creating motions for songs but that was the extinct of the knowledge she gained . I ’ m not gonna lie . This broke my heart . Thankfully this young leader noticed it as a red flag . There had been a gap in what she had been taught . She attended all three of my sessions and tried to make up for lost time in gaining knowledge about this crucial path of worship discipleship .
The blessing continued while meeting a few leaders that were in their first jobs as children ’ s and student pastors . The super fun part is they all had attended churches or events where I had led them in worship when they were preteens . The fruit of my efforts were standing before me . The truth is every kid grows up . They don ’ t stay kids forever . They become adults . I love meeting the kids that grow up .
There ’ s something really special about getting to see the fruit of what you invested in . When you hear them share their testimony , there ’ s nothing like realizing the ripple effect of our obedience goes farther than we could ever imagine . My life and so many others impacted theirs ... they are now responding to God ’ s call and starting the process over again impacting a new generation . May the cycle keep repeating and the ripples keep rippling .
Jesus spoke to us about this in Matthew 9:37- 38 ‘ He said to his disciples , “ The harvest is great , but the workers are few . So , pray to the Lord who is in charge of the harvest ; ask him to send more workers into his fields .” ( NLT ) Have you thought about that verse as if Jesus was speaking directly to you ? You are His disciple after all . He didn ’ t just tell them to pray back in the day of “ Bible times ”. No , it ’ s in God ’ s living Word for today , this season and right now . The Message translation says the latter part of that verse as “ On your knees and pray for harvest hands !” Plain and simple that ’ s what we all must do . For our communities and our churches . For our specific area of ministry and every classroom you ’ re leading worship for . Let ’ s pray for the workers to get the harvest .
I ’ ve spent my whole life in church . I ’ m a Pastor ’ s kid and I remember years ago when my Worship Pastor suggested we make a list and pray about it . I ’ m embarrassed to admit that I had not already done that . There were equipment needs we had and personnel roles we needed filled . My mentor suggested praying for it . So ordinary and simple , yet completely a necessity for us as Christ followers and Church leaders .
My question to you today is “ What are you praying for ?” We should carry a weight to do so because it is our responsibility to do so . After all , Jesus instructed us to pray for the laborers for the harvest . That ’ s my challenge to you today . Spend some time dreaming about it . What ’ s your dream scenario ? What roles would you have in each area of ministry . Every age specific classroom . What kind of workers for the field do you need to lead kids in worship ? Not just in activity songs and time fillers but to shift an atmosphere . What type of messengers do you
need to hear the voice of God and speak that as they lead kids to encounter God ’ s presence ?
Psalm 145:4 says : ‘ One generation shall praise Your works to another . And shall declare Your mighty acts .” This is being on mission . Let ’ s cover the team we have and the team we ’ re believing for in prayer . The harvest is waiting . People are waiting . May the answer to the prayers we pray keep the ripples of impact growing .
