THE 22 ND CHRISTIAN MUSICIAN SUMMIT CONFERENCE IS AROUND THE CORNER

By the time you are reading this October 2024 issue , we will be just weeks away from the 22nd year of the Christian Musician Summit conference . We started in 2003 . That was the year that the Lord birthed two ideas — both that have benefited myself and hopefully many of you .

I had been publishing Christian Musician magazine for six years already and started seeing the need for worship leaders , worship team bands , and tech teams to have practical training . Churches were moving to large screens , silent stages , and playing more contemporary music that called for a full band . That is when we launched [ WM ] Worship Musician magazine .

That same year we wanted to make the magazine come alive in a conference format with many of our writers teaching practical workshops there in person with our attendees . Also , many of the worship artists that have contributed to modern worship music that we have featured in the magazine also came to the Christian Musician Summit conferences .

I found my soon-to-be business partner , Matt Kees , had produced a worship leader conference the year before at his church called Worship More ... So we joined forces and combined his worship conference with the Christian musician conference idea that I had , and the Christian Musician Summit was born . We combined great teaching and practical training from some excellent worship leaders and top notch musicians to help our attendees improve skill and inspire talent .

This year is no exception , with some of our favorite artists and workshop leaders that truly have become great friends over the years . Paul Baloche ( a blue-collar worship leader if there ever was one ), our Canadian friend Brian Doerksen ( he has a heart to teach worship songwriters ), Benji Cowart ( he has written several of your favorite songs you have heard on your local Christian radio station ). Then you have our “ Bringin ’ Down the House Band ” ( all accomplished players in their own right ): Dave Cleveland ( guitar ), Norm Stockton ( bass ), Ed Kerr ( keys ), and Carl Albrecht ( drums and keynote speaker ). Wow ! They not only back up

the artists but also teach workshops for each of those musical disciplines .

The conference is a mix of worship times and training workshops Friday and Saturday , November 8 – 9 ( with intensives on Thursday , November 7 for guitar , bass , keys , and audio ). We ’ ll be back again at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Tacoma , WA .

We usually have over 100 different churches represented there from various denominations — all gathered with one purpose — to improve their skill and inspire their talent for God ’ s glory !
