Paul Reed Smith is both an innovator and fastidious tinkerer . I first saw one of his guitars way back in 1981 when Santana played a series of hometown night club shows here in the San Francisco Bay Area . In addition to an array of Gibson , Fender , and Yamaha instruments , Carlos debuted what would go on to become his signature instrument . True to form , the guitar sounded and looked great . Fast forward to the 2023 Crossroads Guitar Festival , Carlos and PRS are still delivering iconic tones together .
Paul Reed Smith forged a name for himself by achieving what so many boutique guitar companies have tried and failed to do . He ’ s created instruments that people love to play , hear , and see . Key to the initial success was daring to think people would want to play instruments with a 25 ” scale ( roughly halfway between Gibson ’ s 24 ¾ ” and Fender ’ s 25.5 scale lengths ). The massive success of the brand has also afforded Paul the ability to pay homage to the groundbreaking innovations that define Les Paul ’ s ( single cuts ), Stratocasters ( Silver Sky ), and now with the release of the NF 53 and Myles Kennedy signature guitar , Telecasters .
NF 53 - White Doghair

From that classic design , Paul and the team set out to create something uniquely PRS by adding modern appointments , while respecting the heart and soul of an iconic design .” I ’ ll add that the series of video PRS produced for these guitars are as good as any I ’ ve seen when it comes to telling you the “ what , why , and how ” behind these instruments There is also a great behind the scenes video of these guitars being debuted
