CODY ’ S BACK PLUS THE CHRISTIAN MUSICIAN SUMMIT HITS 20 YEARS OLD …
It is good to see Cody Carnes back on the cover of [ WM ] Worship Musician this month . In the past few years two of Cody ’ s songs are on my personal favorites list (“ Run to the Father ” and “ Nothing Else ”) and “ Firm Foundation ” is not only a new favorite of mine now , but also of the little church that I attend during our worship time .
I officially met Cody in February of 2020 at the Worship Together Conference in Franklin , TN ( a terrific conference you don ’ t want to miss ). But I believe I unofficially met him at our Christian Musician Summit conference in Buffalo , NY several years before that . Kari Jobe was one of our artists leading worship there and Cody was her guitar player in the band . I wandered into the green room and saw four guys eating dinner there , so I grabbed a plate of food and sat down at the table to get to know them . We talked guitars and joked around a bit and they asked me questions about the CMS conference there and what I did as co-producer of the event . Kari had joined us by then . When we were done eating , Kari got up and gathered all the paper plates and cups and cleaned up the entire table . That showed a servant ’ s heart in her that impressed me . Kari herself has graced the cover of [ WM ] several times herself so now whether it is Kari or Cody , I am always happy to cover their music and ministry … quite the couple .
Worship conferences are special events . In this issue we cover the milestone that our own CMS Conference has reached … our 20 th year ! 36 conferences in 5 different states , a host of artists and clinicians , multiple sponsors and exhibitors and tens of thousands of attendees training under our “ improving skill : inspiring talent ” banner … and most importantly - a conference desire to do this all to the glory of God !
