is in some sort of social networking “ group ” where you can create posts and discuss ideas , make comments , and upload pictures , GIFs , or funny memes . How often do you have a thought you ’ d like to add to a discussion you previously read and then , scrolling back , you simply cannot find the thread of discussion ?
PreSonus Sphere can be compared to a social network closed group . However , your songs or projects are grouped into “ Workspaces ” where members can upload , download , make comments , and have discussion . If you ’ re working on a ten-song record , it would make sense to have ten workspaces setup so to keep files and notes gathered per song .
So how is this beneficial ? Let ’ s say that Sam , Michael , and I want to produce some records . We all happen to live in different towns , whether we are at the same church or in different states is really irrelevant . Let ’ s say we add another three collaborators who are great at their instruments or vocals , but have no idea how to mix or add effects . With a simple interface and PreSonus Sphere , I could set them up a channel on which to record . They can record their part at home or wherever they work and then upload their contribution and I could still tweak it as if we were all live in the studio together .
community . It ’ s not likely that you ’ d drop something on a public Facebook group and ask for opinions unless you have your riot gear on . Within the network of PreSonus Sphere , you ’ re able to find likeminded people , professional people , and folks who have experience with a specific skill that you are in need of whom you can simply ask for an opinion or can actually hire out for polishing your work .
When someone on Sphere opens your work , because everyone is using the same product , they can see your actual plug-ins , effects , and EQ and make adjustments and / or changes in order to enhance your mix . I asked Michael to chime in here with his take on using Sphere ...
“ What I love about PreSonus Sphere is the fast ability of sharing your projects ! At my church , our worship team is writing every week , and Presonus Sphere will allow us to write / record various song ideas and melodies and then share them with each other in a way that allows us to produce over them ! It ’ s like if I had recorded a voice memo on my phone and shared it to my team … but now , I can just record on my computer and have the capability to not only share it , but add parts over it . Just recorded a scratch track with vocals and acoustic guitar ? Boom ! Have your MD add some pads and piano or even some electric guitar . All in all , PreSonus Sphere is very user friendly and a great resource to the local church in taking your worship team ’ s music to the next level !”
You can join PreSonus Sphere for $ 14.95 per month with no commitment or you can get a month free by paying Annually at $ 164.95 . DAW ’ s can easily cost hundreds more with limited upgrade or updated features and without the connectivity and community aspect that Sphere offers .
I have friends who are studio musicians in Nashville , and I love to watch their posts of sessions they are working on . They are paid to do an excellent job and then hand over a WAV file of a finished work . That ’ s great and all and is a dream job for many , but I ’ m not a studio musician nor am I a Nashville-Music Row professional . So , it ’ s more likely that the tracks I complete could use some extra finishing touches .
Well , this leads to a deeper level of PreSonus Sphere and part of why it ’ s called a membership and not a subscription . If you find yourself finishing recording and needing some help mastering or just a helpful ear , you have available to you the PreSonus Sphere
