NEW MUSIC
4:6 and features some incredible guitar work as Walker-Smith confidently reminds us that God called us out of death and darkness by His Spirit so that we walk in His marvelous light .
Kim ’ s version of Josh Baldwin ’ s “ My King Forever ” is a magical arrangement with big guitars and smooth piano as she triumphantly sings ; “ All praise to the Lord most High . All praise to the One who saved my life ! My King of Heaven , my King forever !”
Last year ' s release , " Protector " gets a more extended treatment with Walker-Smith giving a stirring explanation of the impact that song has had on her life in the past year while her 2008 release , “ I Have Found ” gets a musical makeover that works well too .
The lone newly-penned song on the album is the stirring “ I Say Yes ” in which Walker- Smith proclaims her diligent need to have an encounter with Jesus by surrendering her entire heart to him .
Even though there are only eight tracks on this EP , the album itself is more than an hour in length which seems a bit long for an EP and most of the songs could have been cut substantially . I was also a bit disappointed that this didn ’ t really sound like a live album considering there were a number of obvious overdubs and tracked parts done post-production . I really liked a few of these songs and of course Kim ’ s vocals are outstanding throughout and really are what hold the whole project together .
THRIVE WORSHIP Let ’ s Have Church
1 . Let ’ s Have Church 2 . I ’ m So Glad I Met Jesus 3 . There is a Hope 4 . Pour You Spirit Out 5 . Holy Moment 6 . Pour Your Spirit Out- Single Version
Thrive Worship is the worship collective from Sacramento ’ s Bayside Church who jumped into the Worship CCM scene with Integrity back in 2019 and has carved their own niche by providing the church with a diverse offering of memorable worship anthems . Their worship community has been consistently growing by leaps and bounds as they now are spread out around northern California into eight sprawling campuses .
Their latest EP , entitled Let ’ s Have Church includes six new congregationally friendly songs of praise that are an eclectic mix of pop , R & B , electronic and modern rock wrapped around honest and uplifting lyrics .
The first three tracks are female led with the title track being the cream of the crop as
Charmaine Wells powerfully kicks the album off with her southern Gospel vocal stylings in this perfect service opener . The song serves as an energetic call to worship with abandonment because of the freedom our God won for us . This song will get you up out of your pew and have you dancing in the aisles in celebration of God ’ s faithfulness .
“ I ’ m So Glad I Met Jesus ” follows and is a hope-filled statement of joy and contentment in the saving power of Jesus while “ There is a Hope ” is a triumphant Easter anthem that serves as a powerful reminder for us to fix our eyes on the One who rose from the grave and secured eternity for us .
“ Holy Moment ” is the most vertical moment on the album . Worship leader Corbin Phillips ’ bright tenor harkens the listener back to how God delivered the Israelites and how He can still deliver change and renewal in a single moment . The piano and subtle guitar mix here is outstanding and the melody will be stuck in your head long after you press the stop play button .
If you are expecting something earthshatteringly different in the way of genre , this album may disappoint but the songs are just creative enough not to run into each other and leave the listener thinking they are hearing the same song over and over again . There are a few great songs here that your church might just fall in love with .
