called A Liturgy , A Legacy , & A Ragamuffin Band . And that became my favorite album for a long time .
[ WM ] Wow ! So , a pretty wide array of listening . That ' s great .
[ Mac ] Oh yeah . Of course , a ton more stuff in there than what I ' m saying , but yeah , that ' s a good start .
[ WM ] I believe it was before you signed with Reunion Records and possibly even Gray Dot Records , but didn ’ t Third Day have a breakthrough worship radio single from your indie releases ? Please refresh my memory and tell us what that radio airplay meant to you ?
[ Mac ] Yeah , we did . We had some good success independently early on . My memory needs to be refreshed as well . I think that there probably was a song called " Forever ", which was our first single , once the record was out on Reunion , which ended up becoming Provident today .
We were getting some airplay for that , and then another song called " Consuming Fire ", which was a heavier rock song that was on our independent record . So yeah , one thing that helped me to understand that Third Day was going to go beyond our own power and our talents , limited as they were , was getting phone calls from places around the U . S . I remember specifically a call from somewhere in New England , I think Connecticut , where someone was playing our music . I think this was around ' 94 . And we ' d only been a band for a year and a half or so . And I just thought , " How is this happening ? And you ' ve got to remember , this is pre-internet days . So , I thought , " How in the world is someone hearing about our music in New England ?" When you ' re a college kid , it just feels like a world away . And that just goes to show that God was working and doing something - moving beyond our own limitations and what we felt like , in our own power .
[ WM ] In the early 90 ’ s you recorded the song ,
“ I Remember You .” Did you ever meet Gene Eugene , its songwriter ?
[ Mac ] Yeah . I actually met him when I was recording that . I had heard that song , I ' m so glad you know that , because most people had

never heard that . I had recorded that song , or heard that song on a record they had done years before , and when Steve had brought me in . If I ' m not mistaken , we had already been successful with " God of Wonders ."
[ WM ] That ' s Steve Hindalong , right ?
[ Mac ] Yes , correct . Steve Hindalong had written with a guy named Marc Byrd .
And that ' s another interesting side note , rabbit trail . When they were first getting together for the idea , or for the album City on a Hill , which
