[ WM ] Excellent !
[ Cory ] I ' ll also , so I ' ll be stealing that . Thank you . ( laughs ) I ' m currently writing it down in my notes .
[ WM ] And now for a personal question . Is there a single recording or record that “ undid ” you in your early years of learning to worship ?
[ Jonathan ] Yeah , I can go . The albums that changed the course of my life . There was a church in Charlotte called Morning Star , and a guy there named Don Potter and they recorded a set of albums called the Heart of David worship records . And I was 18 when I got those albums , got the cassettes actually . And I listened to those over and over-and-over again . And these were like 19 , 20-minute-long songs , where it was just wild worship moments . But they led me into the deeper waters and changed the course of my life . And then the other album would ' ve been the first Kevin Prosch album I
got called Kiss the Son .
And I think I actually got a compact disc of that one , not the cassette . But Kevin ' s music , I think , and Morning Star music changed my life .
[ Cory ] I didn ' t really get saved until I was 18 years old , almost 19 . And the first bits of Christian music I heard would probably be Jars of Clay ' s album with “ Flood ”. And there ' s one song on that at the end . I think it ' s called “ Worlds Apart ”. That absolutely destroyed me ! And the other one , when I actually got to this place in Kansas City where I really got saved , there was a record by Jason Upton , and I want to say it ' s the one with “ Emma ”. Johnny , do you know what record that is ? The first song I think is …
[ Jonathan ] I don ' t , but I ' ll look it up on the Spotify ' s .
[ Cory ] That record is so good ! Yeah . I think
the first song is Emma . Jason ' s music messed me up with just the prophetic nature and the way that he would just go off the cuff and just sing whatever the Holy Spirit was telling him to sing . I was like , “ Whoa , this is a whole new world ”. And it was really exciting !
[ WM ] Great . That ' s good to hear . I had not heard of some of those references before , but I ' m aware of all that you ' re talking about . Well , listen , thank you both so much for this time today and for what you give back to the Body of Christ . Thank you .
[ Cory ] Absolutely !
[ Jonathan ] Thanks for having us , man .
