From the DD series delay pedals to OC series octave pedals , Boss has long been a staple on worship guitar and bass players ’ pedal boards . Having sold millions of stomp boxes , it is easy to think of Boss as a stomp box company . Although Boss has had a number of iterations of the flagship GT multi-effects series , they have not been as popular with worship musicians as the HD500 or Helix , thanks in part to Lincoln Brewster ’ s use of the HD500 . With 140 unique amps / effects on tap , the GT- 1000CORE stands poised to change all that , and is one of the most exciting new releases for worship guitar and bass players out there !
WHAT IS IT The Boss GT-1000CORE features
an entire GT-1000 crammed into the space of Boss ’ widely popular 500 Series pedal platform . With the exception of the XLR outs , having a single Control jack ( for expression or channel switching on your amp ), and less footswitches , CORE has the exact same functionality but in a pedal board friendly form factor . From classic Boss stomps to their latest and greatest ( including some truly amazing proprietary amp models ) there is a ton of tone on tap !
WHAT DOES IT DO Because Boss has the freedom to design their own chips from the ground up , the GT-1000 series features 24 ‘ always available ’ effects , which gives you the freedom to access any combination of effects you want , without ever running out of processing power . Each of the 24 effects blocks is in a ‘ ready and waiting state ’ which also makes changing patches super-fast , and yes it does have spillover .
STANDS ON ITS OWN Be it the audio fidelity , touch sensitive amp models , and USB connectivity , this unit is perfect for transporting your tone from practice , to rehearsal to service . And unlike a traditional pedal board , the amp models and output selection modes make it easy to use just one box anywhere . Although power supply is included , it features a shockingly low power draw ( less than 1,000mA ). Which means you can power it from most pedal board power supplies – I used my trusty 1Spot and it worked like a charm !
RIG FRIENDLY Thanks to the dual stereo FX loops and amp control functionality , CORE is also designed to integrate with your existing rig , be it part of your board , in your amp ’ s loop , or using 4CM .
THE TONE AND FEEL The diehard modeling holdouts have long staked their claim on the basis that modelers don ’ t feel like amps under your fingertips . While that may be the case , the great tones and incredible convenience of modeling / multi-effects units has turned the tide against the nay-sayers . With that said , Boss ’ AIRD technology is all about creating that interaction you get with an amp back into the equation . While I have no idea how they ’ ve done it ( 32 Bit / 24kHz AD / DA is certainly a help ), I can tell you that the amps interact with your picking dynamics and are ‘ listening ’ to what you ’ re playing and responding . It ’ s nothing short of amazing .
