did not plant. You’ ll be tempted to say, my own strength and my own wisdom produced this for me. And then the follow up question was, but who is the man giving you the ability to create wealth? Sometimes you see, when things are abundant, you’ re not as … the reminder isn’ t as much in your face. And I think that’ s always true.
[ WM ] That’ s excellent, and a great scripture reference.
[ Pat ] And, I think about this all the time, I think about it in the times when I look back. You can feel like the grace and mercy of God in the struggle because your awareness is so heightened. Other times it seems you have to choose it. You must choose it, and you must make practices. And I wonder, this is a little lengthy of an answer, but I often wonder if the lack of daily practices for a lot of modern Christianity, lack the practices of Jesus: solitude, silence, fasting, and withholding from yourself.
So, you’ re reminded of your need, you go withdrawing to a lonely place to pray like Jesus did. You realize you’ re not scared when life does that to you. Like, well, I’ ve already chosen this. I know what this feels like. So, I think being generous, if someone asks for something, give it to them. Generosity that costs you something so that when in life, if that something’ s taken, you’ re like,“ Oh, I know what it feels like”. That’ s a Jesus practice. So, I think there’ s a precedent for times that are good. People tend to forget God.
I also think there’ s prescription. Practices from Jesus that we tend to not like. It means putting ourselves in a place of need when we’ re not experiencing that sometimes in our normal every day walk.
[ WM ] You’ re exactly right. And this is a perfect lead up question for me asking you about the new project. But you mentioned the word generosity, which I actually have in a question that I’ m going to ask you in a bit, and it makes me think, this is off the record maybe, but it makes me think about this Snap benefits shutdown because of the government shutdown. And at this point, I just think it doesn’ t matter if the Democrats have caused this, it doesn’ t matter if the Republicans have caused this. What matters is being generous and helping those impacted and that don’ t have food. And that’ s what matters is figuring out ways to donate or help people in this situation now. So, I appreciate what you’ re saying. The lead up part of this to the question is that we must continue to carry the fire of our commitment to and relationship with the Lord, which your just released project, I’ ve Got a Fire, communicates. It’ s a full album of 11 songs. What’ s behind it? What’ s the backstory on it all?
