Matt Redman has been a staple of worship music for more than 30 years and is the author of such worship classics as“ Blessed Be Your Name”,“ Our God”,“ You Never Let Go” and“ 10,000 Reasons” just to name a few. His latest release, Life & Breath is a familiar ninesong journey that combines the congregational energy of a live worship setting with the cleanliness and precision of a studio recording. The album brings together theologically focused lyrics, fresh melodies and authentic worship that is appropriate for personal and communal worship experiences.
The title track,“ Life & Breath,” sets the tone for the album beautifully, centering on God as the giver of every heartbeat and breath.“ The God We Love( Nicene Creed)” stands out as
Musically, the album shines through collaboration. Guest vocalists like Charity Gayle and Joe L. Barnes add layers of warmth and diversity, while the Lipscomb University Gospel Choir gives certain tracks a soulful depth that broadens Redman’ s sound. Songs like“ Let Me See Jesus / Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus” and“ A Thousand Ways” balance heartfelt devotion with memorable melodies that easily invite participation. It is worship meant to be sung whether in a sanctuary or in solitude.
Still, Life & Breath doesn’ t aim to reinvent worship music. Instead, it refines what Redman does best: simple, sincere songs built around timeless truths. Some listeners may find the album’ s pace and tone a bit mundane as a few of the tracks toward the end tend to run together. Those looking for groundbreaking sounds or bold experimentation might find it predictable. But that consistency also reflects the steady hand and heart of a worship music legend.
Ultimately, Life & Breath is less about innovation and more about invitation. It invites us to breathe deeply again, to remember that every moment of life and every breath of praise belongs to the One who gives them. It’ s worship that feels lived-in, authentic, and rooted in the story of God’ s people across generations.
For longtime Matt Redman listeners, this album will feel like coming home. For newcomers, it’ s a beautiful introduction to a songwriter who continues to serve the church with humility and heart.

In the wake of church scandal where we have seen the exit of many prominent leaders from Hillsong church, it is no wonder we have not heard anything new from the collective in more than three years. Their new EP entitled, Great I AM arrives in a moment of uncertainty and curiosity about how things are moving forward for the Aussie based mega-church. With many of their prominent worship leaders and writers now based in other ministries and projects around the world, the new Hillsong is now expanding their musical horizons by curating a new batch of writers and leaders in an effort to rebuild the brand name but with a firm and clear focus on keeping Jesus as the center while reminding us all that He is alpha and omega, beginning and end.
The title track sets up the rest of the little EP well and would fit perfectly as a Sunday morning opener as Alexander Pappas invites those worshiping to prepare their hearts and minds to approach the presence of God with awe and reverence. The chorus is simple and vertical with
