Brooke ( Fraser ) Ligertwood has spent the past decade or so writing songs we all want to sing . The GRAMMY winning , multi-platinum worship icon has gifted the church with such Sunday morning favorites as “ Who You Say I Am ”, “ King of Kings ”, “ Hosanna ” and “ What a Beautiful Name ”. Coming off of her seventh solo album , Seven , is the eleven song collection aptly named , Eight .
The songs contained in this latest offering are a creative mix of freshly penned anthems and reimagined Ligertwood favorites that are woven seamlessly together creating a number of honest and stirring moments of personal and corporate worship .
Cody Carnes co-write , “ Bless God ” kicks off the album and begins with an upright piano and haunting B3 organ . Ligertwood welcomes the worshiper to bless the Lord in a number of ways all of which mean humbling ourselves and remembering who He is and what He has done .
“ Fear of God ” is probably the most creative track on this collection with its driving drums , slide guitars and southern rock feel reminding this reviewer of Molly Skaggs ’ “ Aint No Grave ” from a few years ago . Ligertwood does a masterful job of writing a song that is out of the norm for her as she reminds us that the evil one is still prowling seeking someone to devour , but we need to have courage that our God is stronger and has already won .
Long time Hillsong favorite , “ Lead Me To The Cross ” is completely re-worked as former Delirious ? front man Martin Smith takes over the vocal lead amidst a new and fresh arrangement while former Elevation hit , “ Authority ” also gets new life as Ligertwood joins forces with Bethel front man John Wilds .
Eight is a simple , no-frills worship album . There are no over-produced , over-written , overcliché ’ d songs here . These eleven tracks are just straight forward , well written , honest songs of praise all done with some forethought and enough originality to keep the album moving forward . Thank you , Brooke , for this gift .

Rushmore of current worship artists right alongside Hillsong , Bethel and others as one of the most successful collectives on the planet . The collection is a nice mix of Christmas classics and newly penned songs all telling of the birth of Jesus while featuring eclectic musical styles and interesting arrangements .
“ Welcome To Our World ” is a blast from Christmas past and was first recorded by Chris Rice way back in the late-90 ’ s . This laid-back version sung by another Chris , Chris Brown ,
