looking for these dark Mahogany wood guitars . We typically use K & K or Fishman Pickups in them .
In a studio setting . It just depends on what we ' re going with . We ' re very blessed . We have a variety of small body Martin guitars . This guitar behind me is a 1964 Gibson J-45 . We ' ve had several Collings . I just personally got a Collings OM1 that I love a lot . For Christmas time , we explore a lot of Nashville tunings on guitars trying to get that high shimmery , beautiful kind of effect .
[ WM ] In closing , what do you hope Highlands Worship can convey to other worshiping churches and worship teams ?
[ Chris ] I think Highlands Worship , through the music that we put out , we ' re always thinking about the congregation and just songs that lead people vertically to Jesus . Our pastor is very big on a philosophy that says , " We sing songs that tell who Jesus is and what he ' s done ." And that ' s it . That is the standard that we write from , that we arrange from . We don ' t want to talk about us . We want to talk about songs that tell who Jesus is and what he ' s done . And we hope to lead people to the message of Christ through that music .
And that is our sole goal . If it ' s not going through that filter , you probably will not see it coming out of Church of the Highlands . With our original music , we ' re looking for songs that will resonate very well in a congregational worship setting . And we go through some amazing things to try to ensure that the first time you give that Highlands worship song a try , it will work so well with your congregation .
And that ' s key , tempo , style , vocal delivery , phrasing … there are so many different things other than the lyric and the style of the song that we think about to try to ensure that … that song resonates well with the congregation .
