blending with zero phase issues. All the way down, it’ s pure V4 Morning Glory; dial it up, and you get a clean boost without a big jump in volume. This adds back the low end missing from the original, making it a killer option for bassists too. I especially love how the clean blend sharpens pick attack. Morning Glory’ s signature compression is still here, but now you can shape your sound from pristine boost to gritty overdrive or anywhere in between. The Tone knob only shapes the overdrive, so your clean stays untouched. They really thought of everything. I tried it as my first gain stage and even considered swapping out my Klon.
It sounded great both before and after other drives. My board usually runs three or four gain stages, and the Morning Glory Clean shines as a clean boost after the stack. In live settings, when I need a clean line or rhythm part to leap out of the mix, this pedal delivers all the output I need.
MY TAKEAWAY: Honestly, I’ m thrilled with what Josh has achieved here. I can picture this pedal on every one of my boards— live, studio, and travel. It looks fantastic next to its gold-flecked siblings, too. There are plenty of demo videos out there, but the JHS one is my top pick. Whether you need a boost or crave versatile overdrive, this pedal delivers. For newcomers, it’ s an investment you’ ll grow with for years. I’ m genuinely excited about the Morning Glory Clean and have no doubt it’ s destined to become a classic.
