NEW MUSIC upright piano serve as the musical backdrop for this gorgeous song that reminds the believer that we belong to Jesus, how much He showed us what we meant to Him by securing eternity through death and resurrection for us. The song is intimate and brimming with authenticity as Brock passionately declares that even though we stray from the promises of God and often think we know better, Jesus always runs out to meet us when we return to the Father. There is even a sweet little bridge that pays homage to the old camp song,“ His Banner Over Me” that fits quite well in the back half of this track.
The acoustic version of the previously released“ Christ Or Nothing” from Brock’ s“ This Is Holy” album follows and serves as a subtle toe-tapper of a song about being sold out for Jesus. Thematically, the song’ s center is found in Philippians 3 where Paul talks about how his realization that anything he held as worthy now pales in comparison to the love and knowledge of Christ. It is a powerful reminder to the listener about how we all need to re-examine the things that we hold important in our lives and to make sure that our relationship with Christ is more important than any of them.
“ Christ Our King” was co-written with Brett Yonker, Jacob Sooter and Rachel Hallback and released earlier this year by Passion. It is a vertical song of worship that is both reverent and majestic and is one that will draw worshippers into the throne room to experience the heart of Jesus.
Beloved is a welcome breath of simple, honest worship not complicated by overly complicated production. These are songs for the local church, simply written, produced and delivered. There are a few songs that your congregation will fall in love with and that your worship team could easily emulate. PLANETSHAKERS Easter
1. Worthy Is The Lamb( Easter) 2. The Greatest Name( feat. Darlene
Zschech 3. I Remember( Easter Version) 4. Communion
There is no bigger day in the church year than Easter. It is the culmination of Christ’ s long journey through Holy Week which revealed His ultimate plan of salvation for God people. Without the resurrection, Christmas doesn’ t matter. Without the resurrection, the words and miracles of Jesus are just fairytales. Without the victory of Easter, the crucifixion is just another man hanging on a cross and death wins. These are the ideas and thematic base for Australian based Planetshakers newest EP, Easter which features four new songs celebrating the greatest day in history.
The EP begins with the victorious“ Worthy Is The Lamb- Easter version” which is a glorious exposition of the resurrection and what it means for humanity. This song is balm for the weary soul and reminds us all that Jesus reigns and is sitting on the throne of Heaven waiting for us.
Worship legend, Darlene Zschech lends her vocal pedigree as she leads the Biblically grounded anthem,“ The Greatest Name” which draws it lyrical foundation from Philippians 2 and Revelation 5 as Zschech declares the authority of God and that His name is the only one that can save a world endlessly searching for answers to life’ s problems.
“ I Remember( Easter Version)” continues the story of Jesus’ suffering and death while simultaneously pointing the worshiper to the power and love of God who overcame sin and death. The simple piano chords and solo vocals here do a powerful job of telling the story without the distraction of over-produced pads and muddy instrumentation that so often accompanies songs like this in the modern worship genre.
This EP is further proof that Planetshakers is growing in their song writing and arranging. I appreciated how they told the whole story of Holy week and how they kept the songs simple in arrangement yet powerful in message throughout the EP which allowed the story of Jesus’ resurrection to take center stage.
