showroom explaining about the different guitar models and about Taylor ’ s almost herculean efforts for global tonewood preservation .
One of my favorite parts of the tour was seeing a very large pile of drying Koa wood . Koa is one of my favorites .
Next it was time to tour the building where the new Circa74 amps are made . I met Carlo Flores there who is in charge of the amps production . He walked me through several workstations and I saw how everything from the mahogany cabinets were made , to the insertion of the quality FRFR speakers are added . I even saw a future Koa wood cabinet version . Ok , I admit it , I am a sucker for Koa wood .
After that I got to tour the areas in the buildings where Taylor ’ s new boutique Powers Electric guitars are made . They have very unique features and a new cam style whammy bar design that is brilliant . At the moment they have a limited dealer network of music stores waiting for each guitar that ships . Be sure and check them out at powerselectricguitars . com .
Now it was time for a lunch meeting with Monte and a few other team members to discuss the dealer opportunity . With the reach of the magazine and the four guitar shows I produce plus the Christian Musician Summit conference and a large scale bluegrass festival I am involved with , there are many points where we reach the guitar playing public . I had a guitar show coming up in the Northwest and I wanted to have at least one Circa74 to show ( demo ) and one to go ( in a box ). You can get up with all of our guitar events at www . WestCoastGuitarShows . com .
Look at this ! All Koa wood just waiting to be used ...
The meeting ended on a positive note , and I was granted dealer status . Monte was more than kind to me and actually drove me the 25 minutes back to the San Diego airport for my flight home .
What a great day !
Here is Koa wood put into practice - the side of a special Circa74 amp .
