20 TH ANNIVERSARY REVIEW // THE FIRST DECADE by Bruce Adolph
To celebrate our 20 th year of publishing [ WM ] Worship Musician magazine , we are going to start by taking a look back at the first 10 years of some of our cover stories and offer you poignant quotes from the worship artists who said them . Sometimes these artists were brand new themselves and some were already established . This was the early days of modern worship music and there was quite a keen level of excitement .
Note the first few issues we were named Worship ! Magazine before we moved to Worship Musician . We were still a print magazine , and the digital world of publishing hadn ’ t even arrived yet . For the first year or more I would show the back of an artist as the cover photo , just so we would set the tone that we were not a “ fanzine ”, but a training publication for the entire worship team . We were a bi-monthly magazine as we were still publishing Christian Musician magazine bi-monthly too . Later we would merge the two and publish under [ WM ] Worship Musician ’ s name each month . Which we still are doing to this day .
The quotes from these cover stories are evergreen and still food for thought today , and as you will see - the hearts behind them were sincere . This has been a fun exercise for me to look back and see God ’ s faithfulness . Amazing !
