crucial . I currently have a Boss DD-500 with too many delay presets . But even with two presets I always try to establish a long delay and short delay .
I always set the delay to a quarter note so I could manipulate the delay however I want . If I ever want the dotted-eighth note sound , I tap that into the tap tempo , or if I want just an eighth note sound I tap that . In other words , I can type any kind of rhythmic pattern I want since I have the delay set to a quarter note . It takes some practice but it is manageable .
REVERB Reverb and Delay share the same initial dilemma . Some people like to have the options to call up different delays , and others have just two . At the moment , I technically have one delay on my Line 6 HX Stomp ( where I also run my amps ) and I have a footswitch dedicated to moving the parameters of the reverb to accomplish two different sounds .
One short reverb and a long reverb , the reverb on the HX Stomp is always set to be on , but when the footswitch on the HX Stomp is off the hall reverb acts like a short room reverb , and when I hit the footswitch the mix , decay , and EQ parameters are moved to give the reverb a bigger , more air like sound . Almost like a knock off version of the Cloud sound . With these two reverb sounds I am content and convinced that I can tackle anything in the worship sound world and fit into any band . Some experimenting is necessary to fine tune the reverb sounds , but once you ’ re happy with the sound you have , you won ’ t need to tinker much .
IN CONCLUSION We really don ’ t need too much to get a variety of different sounds for guitar in the worship world . Sometimes we just need to work with what we have and realize that with the little we have , we can do a lot more than we imagine . Multi-effect units do help a lot when learning about the different colors and textures of these effects and will help you scratch that itch when you want to try something different , but even still we always find an excuse to want to buy another pedal .
Even as I type this , one of my friends is calling to sell me a Timmy pedal and though I know I have what I need , I am considering buying it . But I know I can do everything with what I currently have and I and grateful for that .
