20 YEARS IN THE MAKING …
You could say I waited 20 years to write this Sound Check . I remember when I hit the 20- year mark of publishing with then our sister publication [ CM ] Christian Musician ( that happened about 6 years ago ). That was a milestone that I celebrated by having the Santa Cruz Guitar Co . make me a one-of-akind acoustic guitar , replete with the Christian Musician logo in abalone on the headstock and a picture of Judy and my faithful dog , Winston , etched in bone on the neck heel . Now that was cool ! I played that guitar last Sunday on my church ’ s worship team .
I haven ’ t figured out quite yet how I will commemorate this 20 th anniversary of publishing [ WM ] Worship Musician . A good place to start is to publicly thank the Lord for not only giving me the idea 20 years ago and helping me countless times as I walked through each issue in faith , but for sustaining the magazine all these years . We were an allprint publication for many years and now have made the transition to an all-digital magazine . Each monthly issue is a joy to produce and God is faithful !
This May issue will highlight notable quotes from worship leaders / artists from our first decade and the June issue will bring us up to speed with the second decade . We trust that you will be edified as we traverse 20 years in the making .
Judy and I would like to extent our gratitude and acknowledge our writers ; they pour themselves into their columns . We thank our advertisers that support what we do ; we can ’ t produce this magazine without them , plus our Distributor Collective that emails out each issue for us . I can ’ t go much further without thanking Matt Kees our designer . The most patient friend , a man talented in his craft , who is also wise
counsel to us at crucial times in the magazine production process .
Last ( but not least ) is you – our readers . We love meeting you at events and hearing feedback from you on the magazine . We truly want to have these pages improve your skill and inspire your talent - all to the glory of God .
We celebrate the Lord in all things , and He has helped us all these years - and continues to do
so – so again , thank you Lord !
