Jenn Johnson ’ s “ Holy Forever ” clues us into our standing before God by proclaiming His majesty and power while reminding us to trust Him in all things because His love never fails . Johnson ’ s unique and commanding vocals make this track standout .
Songs like “ Inheritance ”, “ Beauty ”, and “ I Am Your Beloved ” explore just how big our God ’ s love for us is and all provide moving ambient soundscapes that will help you to get lost in worship as you sing along .
Hannah McClure lends her silky vocals in the unexpected “ Precious Blood ” which starts out in typical fashion with pads and quiet pianos before suddenly shifting gears to a move rhythmic , pop type feel . Lyrically , the song celebrates the life we receive through the blood of Jesus in a powerful way .
This album is classic Bethel , full of big songs and catchy melodies . I appreciated that for the most part the album is very safe theologically as it centers on basic Biblical truths . I would have appreciated a little rawer scripture focus in some of the songs and I would like to see Bethel take a stab at changing up their song structure , but this is still a solid offering from the collective .
Iconic worship duo , Shane and Shane is made up of two college friends , Shane Barnard and Shane Everett who have been writing songs for the local church for close to two decades . Their latest single , “ You ’ ve Already Won ” is being hailed as one of their best songs ever and is already being sung in churches across the globe , including my own .
The live version of the single was recorded this past year at Liberty University and was written as an encouragement to believers from the Ukraine who are trusting in Jesus in the midst of the war and unrest . The thematic focus centers on the saving power of Christ and the hope that waits for every person both now and for eternity .
I love songs in 6 / 8 for some reason and with its almost Celtic feel , “ You ’ ve Already Won ” jumps right into your heart the second you press play . The main melodic theme of the intro shadows the coming chorus and instantly draws the listener in with a perfect melodic hook as the intro starts the track off with energy and life .
Verse one brings the musical energy back a bit from the intro as Shane Barnard declares both hope for today and for the future as he boldly declares , “ There ’ s peace that outlasts darkness , hope that ’ s in the blood . There ’ s future grace that ’ s mine today that Jesus Christ has won ”. Verse 2 follows in the same musical vein but the focus shifts from what God has done in verse one to how we can live within this
Chorus one is stripped back musically but powerful in content as we are reminded that even though we are daily fighting spiritual battles , the ultimate battle has already been fought and won by Jesus through the cross . It is this fact that allows us to overcome whatever Satan may throw our way in this life . These words are the ultimate encouragement and one that should remain in our hearts . Barnard ’ s soaring vocals are on full display during these chorus ’, and I personally couldn ’ t wait to sing this with my congregation .
Verses 3 and 4 inspire ever believer to preserve during hard times because mercy always waits for us and when life gets rough , Jesus is the anchor we need to hold on to . The bridges are very simple and a bit repetitive , but the central focus is clear ; that you and I know how this story ends and that is something the whole church should celebrate . One day we will be reunited with our Father and peace will reign .
“ You ’ ve Already Won ” has rocketed quickly to the top of my personal favorites list with its sticky melodies , wonderfully written hooks , and solid theological lyrics . It is easy to teach , play and sing and I guarantee your congregation will be moved and encouraged when they sing this one .
