lot of bands of that era and cut my teeth on a lot of that playing . Emery , Underoath , Beloved , The Receiving End Of Sirens , etc . I loved August Burns Red and all of their riffs . Their live show is probably the most fun I have ever had at a show . So much energy and they are so incredibly tight live it ’ s ridiculous . Coldplay was also a great live show , different genre though . ( laughing ) The music I listen to on a day-to-day basis changes often , but lately it ’ s The War On Drugs , Temples , The Killers , Stapleton , Mayer , Yumi Zouma , Coldplay , Beach House , really too much to list …
[ WM ] When did you start attending Bethel church and become part of Bethel Music ?
[ David ] I moved out to Redding in 2014 after accepting an audio engineering job at Bethel . It was really a God thing . Before getting connected with Bethel , my wife and I were feeling like a transition was coming for us and we were knocking on different doors for different opportunities . Around that time , we were going to attend a Bethel Music worship night and a friend invited me to go with him to the venue early and help Bethel load-in and I thought that would be fun , so I did . I ended up meeting and working alongside the production manager at the time ( Clint Aull ) but I didn ’ t know he was the PM . The worship night really felt like home to us . Fast forward a month or so , I got in touch with an old friend who worked at Bethel to see if there were any job opportunities open and there was a position open on the sound team , so he put me in touch with the production manager who turned out to be Clint ! He remembered me from the worship night and liked me , so he offered me the job . We felt God on it , so we packed up and moved across the country to Redding , CA / Bethel without having ever been there . A few months after arriving , I started serving by playing guitar on the teams and eventually got asked to do some trips with Bethel Music , which led to me doing a lot with them and well , here we are !
[ WM ] You ’ re also an instructor at the Bethel School of Worship . How did that come about and what topics are you going to be covering ?
[ David ] Yes , I will be teaching a track on electric guitar with my dude Jonathan Lee . I started teaching in the worship school shortly after getting involved in traveling with Bethel Music years ago . It ’ s really a fun time where we get to sit in a smaller group setting with guitarists from all over and share a little bit of how we approach things like gear and tone , writing guitar parts for Bethel Music , and playing spontaneously in worship , etc . It ’ s a good time .
[ WM ] You ’ re somewhat of a gear head both with guitar and studio . What is currently on your guitar rack , pedalboard and amp collection ? Tell us about your gear and what inspired you with your choice of gear ?
[ David ] 100 % a gear head for better or for
