Mariah McManus Goss and Carlos Pimentel of Mosaic MSC join us for an in-depth discussion of their new studio project , This is How I Thank the Lord . From the sidewalks of Hollywood , California , to the slopes of Wyoming ’ s Grand Teton Mountains , Mosaic MSC ’ s music has garnered some 300 + million streams , impacting believers and churches worldwide . Their impact is born from living within a real worshiping community , ministering to the poor , and witnessing to the lost for Christ .
[ WM ] It ’ s great to see you today ! Let ’ s see , we haven ’ t had a visit in almost two years !
[ Mariah McManus ] That ’ s right ! Thanks for this time .
[ WM ] I love the ethos of Mosaic . The notion of creativity , individuality , and ethnic and racial diversity , all in community and in submission to the Lord Jesus , is an incredible achievement . With so many walks of life represented within Mosaic and Mosaic MSC , how did you as a worship team collective , adapt to the constraints of Covid over the past two years ?
[ Mariah and Carlos ] That ' s a great question !
[ Mariah ] I mean , I think like everyone , it took time to get our footing . The way that we adapted to it initially is not the way that we were even a year later . I feel like it ' s important to say too in L . A ., our experience is very different because we were locked down for almost two years . So , the way it looked six months in was very different and it was off-the-cuff .
I think everyone was just trying to figure out how to provide people with community when physically you weren ' t allowed to be in community . Also , provide people with church , with scriptures , with discipleship , and meeting people where they ' re at , when there ' s no structure or even a framework for how to do it successfully .
And so , I think the way that we ' ve done everything always is by being flexible . And it was even more so than we ' ve had to be in the past . And I think that that ' s part of the whole framework of ethos in Mosaic , which is we ' re all creative and that creativity is the natural result of spirituality . It was the same with different limitations . And that ' s a great thing about having true core values within your church , right ?
That no matter what changes culturally or what changes for us , it was the laws that were changing . And all these things that the core of who you are would stay the same regardless of outside forces . And so that was how we
