Notice , that ’ s from where I was sitting . Every seat is different . Many times , when someone complains about the volume , we can simply suggest sitting in a different seat and that will take care of the issue ( if they will move !).
Let me get back to my point … one Sunday , the drummer from the North Venue came and played in the drum enclosure in the Central Venue . It was really eye-opening as I could hear all of the little touches and nuances that he was adding to the song rather than my ears only being force-fed cymbal wash / crash / wash .
So , I set out on a mission to make a drum enclosure possible for the North Venue . I knew a rounded front enclosure would look and fit better in the North Venue since it ’ s a smaller room with a curved platform . The enclosure from the Central Venue would look way out of place . Plus , it was much more expensive .
We did our research and even considered building our own because it really is expensive . However , I am so glad that we were able to work it into our budget ! After having the Bullet for a few weeks , there is no way I would take the money back and just build our own .
Here ’ s how it went down . There was a 5-6 week build out time . The delivery truck arrived and unloaded two big pieces on wheels that only took 4 men to haul . It literally only took 10 minutes to setup and it was ready to install drums . The front-end connects with buckles onto the back , creating a tight seal . We were able to select where we wanted the door which magnets shut . There is plenty of room for our Ableton computer on a stand and the included fan for the drummer .
The frame is powder-coated and really light weight . Cinemation Design really got this thing figured out . That ’ s why I say it ’ s totally worth the investment . I ’ ve built a drum riser before and it actually was harder to move by itself than the Bullet is when it ’ s full of drums ! The heavy-duty casters do the trick well .
Overall , the volume difference is night and day . Now we can simply mix the band and vocals and not mix them based on the drums . Now we can hear all of the added touches the drummer makes that really serve the song that were not heard before . Now , the vocals stay out in front where they are supposed to be . Now the acoustic guitar is not lost in the mix !
The Bullet is built in Roanoke , TX and cost $ 10,500 delivered . DELIVERED . You may have to work it into next year ’ s budget and / or sell some gear ( like I did ) to make it happen , but I believe you ’ ll be as happy as our congregation is ! Check out the video to see some of the install photos and a clip of the Bullet in use .
