[ WM ] You and your co-producer on this project X , both visited Linc ’ s home studio together and later after Covid 19 hit , you did remote sessions with Linc . Tell us about the first trip to Lincoln ’ s quite cool home studio ?
[ Seth Mosley ] X and I had a blast working with Lincoln on his record . I just got to say that Lincoln is one of the guys that I grew up leading his songs in youth group and in church . You always wonder with your heroes that you grow up looking up to , how are they going to be to work with , how are they going to be in person ? And I just got to say , he ' s even better than I would have expected , just a great hang , a hilarious guy , and of course , an amazing talent . We just felt really welcomed in by his family and the community out there at Bayside church . Yeah . I can ' t say enough good things .
[ WM ] Then for the remote sessions X took over Linc ’ s computer system via remote . Linc likes to drill down in programming etc . Did you have to pry the mouse out of Lincoln ’ s fingers to take control ?
[ Seth ] No , it was awesome . I mean , we ' ve been doing remote records thankfully long before Covid , so it didn ' t really catch us by surprise on a production end of things , and we ' re always very collaborative . My goal as a songwriter and as a producer is to really just come alongside the artist and serve them in whatever way that needs to be . That might sound a little cliche , but for example , in Lincoln ' s case , he ' s already a very accomplished producer . He ' s an accomplished songwriter . He ' s an accomplished artist . He doesn ' t need somebody to tell him how to make a record . He just needs somebody to collaborate with on it .
We kind of went into it knowing that , and I honestly had fun with it . Remotely , we ' re able to log in and control his machine while he ' s there doing vocals . I ' m hearing him in real time in full quality and we ' re on Zoom for video communication , but it ' s just an amazing workflow that we ' ve got set up and I ' ve got a brag on X as co-producer for really just digging in with Lincoln in the nitty gritty and working through the editing and the programming and the mixes , and really just sort of taking it to the finish line .
[ WM ] You guys are known there at your studio for vocal production . Tell us about directing and capturing Linc ’ s vocals ?
[ Seth ] He ' s a great singer . The thing that he really enjoyed was like I said , me being on live with him , cutting the lead vocals . And then I would go off and on my own , just record these vocal arrangements of backgrounds and harmonies .
