to be hard for me to go out there .
And so we ended doing this thing where we used this LogMeIn software that tech departments would use to share your screen on your computer . They would log into my computer in my studio and take control over my rig . And then I would be sitting here with my vocal mic and my in-ears in . And they can use the talkback mic . We used a combination of LogMeIn and a plugin called Audiomovers to do two-way audio .
So they would just track me using my computer . Thank God X is a really patient guy because I know there was some latency with trying to punch in . He ' d have to punch , and then , depending on where the delay was , go from there . Everything was in time for me because I was obviously listening to my computer sitting here . And everything was in time for them . But there wasn ' t consistent syncing between the two . Which was okay because those didn ' t need to be lined up .
[ WM ] Now their Full Circle Music studio is known for being strong on vocals , right ?
[ Lincoln ] Yeah ! So we would produce ... X would be on there cutting the vocal , and coaching , and doing all of his stuff . And it was just like I was in the other room . I could hear him on the talkback .
I want to say we started doing video and then realized we actually didn ' t need to see each other . Because in a lot of vocal booth settings , you can ' t see each other . In fact , a lot of vocalists prefer not to have people looking at them when they sing . And so it was great . It actually worked great .
And then we set the sessions up where they would sync ... the master session would be located on a Dropbox cloud . And so , he would open the session from Dropbox on my computer , record a bunch of tracks , save the session , close it , open it on his computer . And now those tracks are up on Dropbox .
X mixed most of the album and did an incredible job . And even with the mixes , I was able to open his mix sessions and look at things inside there . And that way I could go , " Hey , what do you think about this ? Or what you think about this ?"
If I was going to tweak something in the mix , whether it be EQ , compression , whatever , I would add additional plugins at the end of the signal path , so that he would know that anything that was there was me . That way those could just be bypassed if he wanted to compare or whatever . So we had a pretty good little workflow going .
And there was one time we redid a couple drum tracks and Zoro came over . And it was crazy . I was sitting at my computer . I had a talkback into the drum room , but I wasn ' t controlling my computer . X was controlling my computer from Nashville . And he had a talkback that me and Zoro could both hear . So we had this little threeway communication thing going that he was
