His name drives the enemy away , and despite my doubts and even disbelief , God is unfazed . He is the same yesterday , today , forever .
“ Be Alright ” was more than just a song to me , it was an anthem . The original version in Spanish brought comfort through the Holy Spirit to millions of Spanish speakers who were suffering . Even before Covid , Redimi2 and I wrote it for those suffering from anxiety and depression which was just exacerbated through the lockdowns and isolation . Redimi2 wrote , “ I know you are working even when I don ’ t see it ” and it reminds us that God is still moving even when we are unaware . It brings comfort that the Holy Spirit is with us , ever present , and is for us .
It was harder and harder to encourage people throughout the year . I truly thought that the pandemic would be over in a few months . We could lock down and come back better than ever after a couple of months , but the seasons changed and we continue to face bigger obstacles . It was one more thing people added to their prayers . And no matter how much we prayed , it didn ’ t feel like there was much breakthrough .
I had some honest conversations and prayers with the Lord in 2019 about my own circumstances . I had not seen any advancement and sometimes felt I lost ground on multiple fronts despite fervent prayer . I shared my frustration with friends during a writing session and they all related to me . These intangible feelings materialized into a new song , “ Praying for the Same Things ”. Proverbs 13:12 says “ Hope deferred makes the heart sick ” and it is our job to trust in the Lord , but that doesn ’ t mean it ’ s easy . It ’ s not easy for us to become Christ like , it can be very painful and overwhelming at times . The
Be Alright
Praying for the Same Things promise for God to heal a sick child is real , but our timing and His do not always coincide . This song was written to start conversations about suffering , deferred hope , and God ’ s immutable faithfulness . Despite my situation and pain , He is still faithful . That is a powerful lesson in the midst of loss , death , and grieving .
I ’ m grateful and excited to share these songs with people because they were all inspired through my relationship with the Lord , questions I ’ ve had , doubts I ’ ve confessed , and are a peek into my process of maturation and growth . I ’ m comforted to know that I have a God who loves me , that He named His son Emmanuel to remind us he is always with us . He suffered just as we do ( Hebrews 4:15 ). And that we are never alone , the Comforter is working in our lives . Do not fear , do not lose hope , God is with us .
I challenge you to read over these verses , meditate with these songs , and trust that the Lord is working beyond what you can see . You are not alone . Take a moment to reflect on God ’ s grace and goodness . Let the Holy Spirit comfort you right now . Be honest , raw , and fervent in your prayers . Ask for peace , ask for understanding , ask for faith to make it through the hard times . He is faithful .
