Organ , Piano , Synth , and effect sections operate independently . They don ’ t share polyphony , which is very unlike other keyboards , the sound quality benefits when you stack sounds or “ Multi ’ s ”. In fact , you can use all of the sections you set up in slot A and combine them with slot B for two totally independent Organ , Piano , Synth , and effect sections operating stacked with independent polyphony . That means you can have two of everything at the same time . To do this , just hold down the A and B buttons to combine them
. 2 . If you like playing with two keyboards at the same time , you can use what you program in slot B as a totally independent keyboard via MIDI . So , if you want the B3 organ on a separate controller or want to have that synth lead ready , you can do the following : Hold the Shift button and press the button labeled “ MIDI ” or “ Program 2 ”. Scroll with the page buttons to page 2 and here you can assign a MIDI channel for Slot A or B . Connect your MIDI controller ’ s “ MIDI Out ” to the “ MIDI In ” on the Nord and make sure it ’ s set to talk to the MIDI channel you set for Slot B . You can now use slot B on that second keyboard .
3 . Something worth mentioning is that Nord is constantly updating the keyboards with new piano sounds . Before , if you wanted the latest piano sound , you had to upgrade with hardware . Nord on the other hand lets you use almost any piano sample they have available across the classic Nord Stage all the way up to the newest Piano 5 they just released . You just have to make sure you have enough space on the internal flash drive but they make it easy with sample versions that end in S , M , L , and XL ( like our clothes ). The smaller samples have less detail and layers than the bigger versions . M to me is the best trade off in any scenario but all of them are very realistic and they are just as
