BLESS THE NORD ? by Anthony Catacoli
I ’ ll always remember back in the 90 ’ s the first time I got on a keyboard to play at church . It was a 76-key Roland JV-90 that had tons of buttons that I had no clue how to use . I had to just gravitate towards a patch I loved called “ MIDIedGrand ” and do the whole set just with that sound . To this day I don ’ t know if I ’ ll ever learn fully to use the features of that board , but
I think a lot to myself , “ How much more could I have done by just knowing the tool better ?” Playing keys today feels a bit overwhelming with all the keyboard options , Mainstage , audio interfaces , analogs synths , synth drones , and then you top it off with shimmer and effects ? There ’ s a lot to figure out and hopefully today I can help clear it up a bit with my own journey into keyboard land . How I went from using just a single patch on an old keyboard , to producing patches and doing whole concerts , just from my Nord Stage 3 . And touring the world , while keeping it simple .
My name is Anthony Catacoli and in my day job , I produce music for the Spanish CCM
