Picture this: You’ re on stage fully locked into the moment. The lights are warm, the crowd is present, and your guitar solo is coming in hot. Suddenly, you realize it. You’ ve drifted away from your pedalboard. There is no time to panic. You need that sound. The one that lifts your tone above the mix and carries it through the room. Or maybe you’ re in a worship set, eyes closed, riding a volume pedal as ambient swells bloom and fade washing the space in something otherworldly. In the middle of it all, the thought creeps in,“ There has to be a better way.”
Well friends, the Casio Dimension Shifter has entered the chat. I must admit I was very intrigued walking to the Casio Booth at NAMM 2026. How could you possibly manipulate an effect without using your feet? How would this work in a live setting? As we approached the booth for our meeting, there stood the developer of the Casio Dimension Shifter, Leo Fujii with his guitar at the ready to demonstrate this extremely creative and mind-blowing accessory. After his demonstration, I received the opportunity to try it myself and I was convinced Casio had something special. I was ready and excited.
What is it? The Dimension Shifter is not a pedal or effect unit. It’ s a strap-mounted wireless expression controller that can turn your guitar’ s movement into real-time control over effects like delay, wah, volume, and filters. No more stomping on pedals or rocking back and forth on an expression pedal with your foot. Simply, you pull or tilt the neck / body of your guitar, and the Dimension Shifter’ s spring-based sensor sends that motion via Bluetooth to a receiver on your pedalboard.
It’ s very cool for players who move a lot or want to sculpt sound while keeping full expression. It works with most pedals and multi-effects units via a standard TRS expression input. With wireless freedom, you could move anywhere on stage without the dreaded“ cord clutter.” It also has customizable settings. Tension, calibration, and direction inversion can be controlled. The Dimension Shifter also offers a HOLD function where it will freeze an expression value midphrase … that is very useful during solos or transitions.
I personally used the Dimension Shifter with the Neural DSP Quad Cortex via the expression input. Once the strap attachment was paired with the receiver, I found myself cycling through nearly every effect I could possibly think of to see how I could use this live during worship. I
