morning and drive you with a guitar in hand to the radio station. You played some songs‘ live’ there and then the concert sold out that Friday night.
You and Matt decided to add a second night on Saturday. Your sound guy at the time, our good friend, John Mills, couldn’ t make the trip, so Matt was running sound for you guys. Matt’ s wife Kymberly already had some family plans set for that Saturday night. So he had you call Kymberly up on the phone, and you asked her permission to allow Matt to be there to run sound for the second concert. She generously agreed.( laughing)
[ Chris ] And I love that you said that because nobody... because I say in interviews, there was a day when people would tell me they wouldn’ t play my music on the radio. And people are like,“ Nah.” People are just like,“ You’ re just making that up. You’ re trying to make drama.” I’ m like,“ No, no, no. Seriously.” I love that. I love that you remember that. Yeah.
[ WM ] And now they play one of your songs every hour. That cracks me up. I hear a Tomlin song on the radio now and just laugh.
[ Chris ] I mean, you guys were helping break those walls down.
[ WM ] Well, we were trying to. Then one more fond time. As the Christian Musician Summit conference grew in size, we had booked you the last night of your tour with Louie Giglio and Matt Redman at Overlake Church in Redmond, WA. We had 3,000 worship leaders, worship musicians and tech team folks there.
[ Chris ] Yes.
[ WM ] And the Holy Spirit was so heavy that night, you could cut it with a knife. And you said,“ I walked out on the platform and from the first guitar chord it was so easy to lead them in worship. They sang on key and were ready to worship from the start.”
[ Chris ] I never experienced that before. That was the first kind of worship leader event I’ d ever done. Wow, those days were so special.
[ WM ] I agree. Well, I just want to thank you for all those good times. I appreciate the good memories Chris – we do go back many years.
[ Chris ] Yeah. I have really great memories with you. I saw your name on the interview list today and I was like,“ Oh, this will be fun to talk to you.”
[ WM ] I appreciate that. Thank you Chris …
