If you’ re a worship musician or church audio volunteer, you already know the reality: you’ re making mix decisions in the least controlled environments imaginable— booth corners, stage wings, bedrooms, green rooms, tour buses, and sometimes straight off a laptop between rehearsals. That’ s the world beyerdynamic’ s HEADPHONE LAB is built for: giving you a more reliable“ reference” experience on headphones when real studio monitors and a treated room aren’ t part of the picture.
HEADPHONE LAB is a free DAW plug-in for macOS and Windows, available in VST3, AU, and AAX formats, making it easy to integrate into Pro Tools, Logic, Studio One, Ableton Live, and most modern production workflows. Its mission is straightforward: help you trust what you’ re hearing on headphones by turning them into a more predictable, studiostyle reference. It accomplishes this through two core functions— headphone calibration and loudspeaker emulation, working together to create a more consistent and realistic monitoring experience.
beyerdynamic’ s calibration approach varies by model to ensure the highest possible accuracy. For most supported PRO-series headphones, the system is based on a carefully measured“ golden sample,” an ideal reference unit that represents the intended acoustic performance of that model within factory specifications. From this reference frequency response, calibration is applied to align the headphones with beyerdynamic’ s studio sound profile. The DT 1770 PRO MKII, DT 1990 PRO MKII, DT 700 PRO X, and DT 900 PRO X feature FACTORY CALIBRATION based on real measurement
