WINNING THE WEEK WITH CASEY KLOCEK

by Bruce Adolph
Editor ’ s Note : I first meet Casey Klocek on a Zoom call with several other folks regarding training worship musicians . I was intrigued by his answers and off camera asked him what he did as a vocation . What he told me I thought might also be of interest to you – our readers .
[ WM ] Casey , you have been a worship leader for 15 or so years now . Tell us about your journey ?
[ Casey Klocek ] Absolutely ! My journey as a worship leader started when I was just a teenager . Like a lot of leaders , I stepped into it with a heart for music and a desire to serve , but I quickly realized that leading worship is about so much more than just playing songs — it ’ s about shepherding people , leading teams , and creating space for others to encounter Jesus . Oh , and on top of all that , it has to be infused with prayer , fueled by love for God and His people , and overflowing from my own personal time with the Lord !
[ WM ] At some point along the way you saw a need for worship leaders . What was that moment like ?
[ Casey ] There wasn ’ t just one moment — there were many ! I kept having the same conversations with worship leaders who felt stuck in survival mode . They were constantly scrambling to get things done , struggling to develop their teams , and feeling like they were never ahead . They would rarely say this of course . It was simply in the air . You know the feeling ? I knew that feeling all too well through my own , personal struggles , and I realized that the problem wasn ’ t a lack of passion — it was a lack of practical and sustainable systems .
One of the biggest “ aha ” moments came when
