TASHA LAYTON Song Spotlight : “ Worship Through It ” of Holy Communion reminding the Body of Christ why we should remember and celebrate Jesus ’ sacrifice through bread and wine .
“ Let the Peace of Christ Rule in Your Hearts ” invites worshipers into a deeper sense of unity and peace while “ How Can I Keep from Singing ” provides balm for the suffering soul outlining all the ways our God is faithful in times of worry and uncertainty .
The closing track serves as a powerful benediction that wraps up the short EP with its strong theological message and reworked melody line . The addition of female vocals and soaring piano arpeggios give this anthem warmth and depth , and this song would fit will in both a traditional and contemporary setting .
For All the Saints serves as a wonderful resource for worship leaders who are looking for a nice mixture of classic and modern for their Sunday setlists . Ortega has done a great job with this collection by melding generations of church music while honoring tradition and providing fresh arrangements . For All the Saints connects the modern church to its rich musical history in a way that is both reverent and accessible to a wide audience . Singer songwriter Tasha Layton is an up and coming worship artist who appeared on season 9 of American Idol before joining superstar Katy Perry as a backup singer for a number of years . These days , Tasha lives in Nashville with her husband and two children , and her solo worship career has been taking off the past few years with such hits as “ Look What You ’ ve Done ” and “ How Far ” both of which ended up in the Billboard top ten in 2021 . Layton was also named one of Billboard ’ s top 5 female Christian Artists of the year back in 2020 .
Her latest single entitled , “ Worship Through It ’ is catching national and world-wide attention . The song was originally written for one her good friends who was diagnosed with cancer and passed away . The theme of “ Worship Through It ” is centered around the idea that God is always faithful even when things don ’ t turn out the way we think they should because His love is bigger than we can imagine . It is a song of hope in the midst of hopelessness , possibility in the midst of impossibility and light in the darkness of despair and loss .
The mid-tempo pop ballad begins with a rhythmic drum and keyboard intro as Layton begins verse one by crying out for a miracle in the midst of a seemingly impossible situation but reminding herself ( and us ) that we serve a God of miracles who comes through every time we need Him .
The first chorus follows as the musical background quiets , and we are drawn into the
bold call to us as believers to worship and be faithful through every situation because our God never turns His back on us . This idea is steeped in scriptures such as 1 Peter 4 , Psalm 69 and 34 as well as others which call on the believer to rejoice in the midst of suffering . I love the matter-of-fact way that Layton lays this chorus out as she confidently sings ; “ I will sing hallelujah to the one who can do what the world says can ’ t be done . I know my God can do it so , I ’ m gonna worship through it ”.
Verse two mirrors the first in instrumentation as Layton tells of how God whispers comfort to us in midst of the impossible . These lines remind us that God is always speaking , always chasing after us and always faithful even when things seem out of control .
Chorus 2 sees a noticeable increase in energy before building to a powerful crescendo of vertical worship and exaltation on the bridge as Layton triumphantly declares ; “ I won ’ t wait til the rocks cry out I ’ m gonna praise You ! I won ’ t wait till the walls come down I ’ m gonna praise You !”
Melodically and lyrically , this is a very wellwritten song of praise that will connect with the heart of anyone who has ever deal with a seemingly impossible situation . The reminder of God as miracle worker is a foundational premise of the Christian faith and is scattered all over scripture . “ Worship Through It ” is easy to sing , creatively written and could be easily adapted by most church worship teams .
