congregation to see the world through the eyes of Jesus . You know , Kingdom principles . Not seeing the world through politics or news organizations and all of that is causing such an incredible division within the church right now .
[ Tauren ] That ’ s right . That ’ s right . That ’ s so good . And we ’ re doing that much to people ’ s dismay at times , but we just want to be faithful to the word , faithful to the gospel .
[ WM ] Yeah . I ’ ve been thinking about that a lot lately because when Jesus walked into a room , he obviously knew everything that was wrong with every bit of government or whatever , and he held his peace , and He remained at peace . Right . And I ’ ve been thinking about that for in my own life . I want to be like that . Well , you also have a book coming out , Joy Bomb . Please tell us about that .
[ Tauren ] I ’ m excited . I ’ m so excited about Joy Bomb . It is not just a book to me . It is a message for the world . And yet it is a message for the one , it ’ s not just a book to me . It is the way of life that Jesus came to emphasize and underscore for the believer . And what just struck me one day as I was just in my regular Bible study , I came across Matthew 5 in my yearly Bible reading , and I just became aware of what we all know that Matthew 5 is Jesus ’ s first recorded message . And so , I thought , “ Man , if this was the first thing that Jesus decided to talk about and someone wrote down , there must be a priority , a significance and an importance to whatever he talked about .” And the first word that he uses in his first sermon is blessed . I ’ m just thinking how important must this idea be if it ’ s the first thing God says to people when he puts on human flesh ? And so , I just started looking into it , and it ’ s well known that that word blessed means happy , prosperous , fulfilled . So , it started in its genesis as this idea of how to be happy . And then I started understanding the implications of what He was saying , particularly who he was saying it to , and where He chose to talk about happiness .
And I realized this blows everything that we ’ ve known about joy away . This destroys every religious construct that they had then , and we have now . It brings it to the ground . I thought it would be beautiful to write a book about what may be the most important message about joy that has ever been preached . And that is Jesus ’ message through the beatitudes .
[ WM ] Let ’ s wrap this up . What are your favorite guitars and keyboards of choice ?
[ Tauren ] Oh gosh . I mean , I play a Nord on the road , and I play a Fender Telecaster , and that ’ s about it . I don ’ t know if I should admit this , but my world right now exists more of a strange combination of organizational flow charts and theological understandings on demonization . I mean , I ’ m just in a different world right now . And I ’ m really entrusting my creative friends , my producer friends , to help me shape what ’ s happening sonically .
[ WM ] It ’ s totally understandable and very honest of you to admit . May I ask you what encouragement do you have today for worship leaders , songwriters , and artists ?
[ Tauren ] Yeah , I ’ m actually really glad that you gave me an opportunity to answer that question because it ’ s something that I ’ ve been aware of for the majority of my walk with the Lord . But I have become acutely aware of how absolutely imperative it is for all of us high producing individuals , creatives , worship leaders , and even people beyond that scope know that ’ s our audience . But I even think of Jenn , my publicist , who is a high capacity , high productivity person . We really have to prioritize our being with God .
And I think I ’ ve mis-understood or misprioritized that , not just in time with them . I ’ m pretty good at reading the Bible and I ’ m pretty good at getting a message , and I ’ m pretty good at having something to say before I lead a worship song , but that ’ s working on something with God , all of that , Lord , I need a strategy , Lord , I need an insight . Lord , I need a word , Lord . I need a fresh revelation . I need passion . I need discipline . All those things . We work on stuff with God a lot , and I realize I ’ ve worked on a lot with God , but there ’ s a difference between working on something with God and
