KEY FEATURES
Like many of you I have owned my share of headless guitars over the years . But in the past five years this Swedish company , although launched in 2007 , has truly become popular with many guitar players . The only challenge is that most of their instrument ’ s range in price from $ 1,645 up to $ 2,995 . This year . strandberg released their cost-conscious Boden Essential 6-string electric guitar priced at only $ 999 .
The model Essential that Worship Musician received for review was the Astro Dust acrylic finish , although it is also available in Black Granite and Elemental Blue satin . Having played more deluxe . strandberg models what really stands out about these guitars , besides being headless , is the EndurNeck profile . Instead of being rounded or in a ‘ V ’ shape like most guitar necks the Boden Essential 6 , and their other models , has a flat back and is flat on either side of the neck . And it is surprisingly comfortable to play .
You ’ ll also notice the sculpted Meranti body has ergonomic arm and torso contours plus the leg notch on the bottom of the body positions the guitar perfectly for sitting . The neck joint , where the body and neck are attached , is beveled toward the neck so your hand doesn ’ t hit any obstructions while working your way up the fretboard . The fretboard on the roasted maple neck has DHP stainless steel frets and glow in the dark dot fret markers on the front of the fretboard and on the sides . I turned the lights off to test this in a bathroom and they really do glow making it ideal for dark or dimly lit stages .
The black hardware and EGS Arc bridge fit the satin finish and style of the instrument . Spending time with the . strandberg Boden Essential 6 string guitar I can see why so many players have been gravitating to these instruments for live shows and session work .
