[ WM ] Jad , I really appreciate the fact that you are articulate in voicing your faith and public speaking . I ’ ve watched some of your messages . Your comments on Costly Worship following the São Paulo event reminded me of the teaching that Jesus spoke to his disciples regarding the widow ’ s mite . Having a somewhat celebrity status with the church can cause problems . It ’ s part and parcel to our fallen , human nature , isn ’ t it ? For you to recognize what it had cost that woman in São Paulo , was sobering because it clarified to you , and us , what is truly important . What are your thoughts on this ?
[ Jad ] I love it when God gives me little reminders of what I ’ m a part of and certainly who it is that God is chasing after . To be reminded that were not doing this for anything other than helping people find where the presence of God is and helping people find where Jesus is . And it would be so easy to get caught up in what we do , what with touring and doing projects and that kind of stuff . It can so

easily become the main thing . I really love those little reminders along the way that kind of give you the perspective as to what God really cares about . So , I really value that , and I ’ m grateful that God would remind me that worship should be costly . Worship should be sacrifice . It should make you go out of your way for what you believe and who you believe . I think I ’ m really grateful for that opportunity .

Prime . What must have been amazing to begin with , that is , holding a citywide worship event in one of the world ’ s most famous venues , is now even watchable on Amazon Prime . How does a worship leader from New Zealand end up in Madison Square Garden ? What are your thoughts on the project leading up to the event , and in the 18 months following it ?
[ Jad ] We ’ ve always marveled at where God has taken us from and where He ’ s taken us to . It ’ s always been really puzzling . We ’ re a youth ministry from the suburbs of Sydney , you know . The crazy thing is years and years ago we would joke around about playing these iconic venues and filling these massive iconic venues with worshippers , and we always kind of laughed about it . We never took it that seriously in that we never expected God to actually do it .
