screen was no exception . We wanted it to be one of those elements , not the main focus of the show itself . With that , we do not use the LED screen for the entire show , only in the scenes when it works best . In addition , we only the run the screen at about 11 % of its brightness so that it blends into everything else happening on stage . Audience members often can ’ t tell where a set pieces end , and the screen begins .
[ WM ] The music tracks are all original and pre-recorded . But do your FOH engineers still ride the faders for mixing the singers and actors in certain scenes or is everything automated down to each line an actor gives or each part a singer sings ?
[ Glen ] Our Front of House Engineers do ride the faders . However , they do that from preset microphone levels throughout the show . Because we have a primary , understudy and backup for each main role , the presets in the console are changed at the beginning of every show based on the cover sheet we receive from Stage Management showing the engineer which cast members will be in that particular show .
