I guess , but if you are going to latch a pad on the one chord , make sure it ’ s not too low or that you at least EQ out the low end so it ’ s not fighting the chords everyone is playing ( or muddying up soft intimate moments ).
[ WM ] Your white MacBook is a popular discussion online . How old is it ? And how long have you been … together ?
[ Aaron ] I bought it in 2008 for $ 500 from my friend Eric and it ' s been onstage with me every weekend since . 13 years . It has Reason 5 on it , and I never update it and never will . I ' ve bought four batteries for it over the years . I literally only open it , play and close it until the next time . There are obviously things that it can ' t do , but I do use a newer MacBook Pro as well ... but honestly my newer MacBook Pro messes up more than the white MacBook - it just never crashes ! I ’ m going to let it live its life out with me until it ’ s fully done .
I open two Reason sessions , and each one has about 30 or 40 sounds , sounds that I ' ve used and created over the years . I can also easily tweak them in the moment and make them what I need to be for a specific song / weekend at church . There are so many go-to sounds that I have in those sessions .
[ WM ] Does it have a name ?
[ Aaron ] It doesn ' t . It ' s “ The white MacBook .”
[ WM ] Aaron , thank you for giving us a peek into your creative process .
[ Aaron ] Thank you ! It ’ s really special being able to make music for a living , and I think it ’ s awesome that people may be inspired by this , or just find what I do a little bit interesting . I ’ m honored !
