thing , because a lot times you start getting tired of songs after you ’ ve played them a hundred times , but this one has just grown .
And then another song is called , “ My Weapon ,” and Natalie Grant recently released that , and that was written at a songwriting camp in Aspen , Colorado . It was really nice to get away from the normalcy of life , and CURB / Word put on this writing camp where we wrote that song just about the Lord ’ s presence being our weapon and our protection .
And then thirdly , I wrote a song with Scott Cash , who ’ s in We The Kingdom and a friend Jeremiah Jones , who are both great songwriters , and it ’ s called “ Shelter ,” and it was released by Carrollton . That was at a time when Scott was going through a crazy hard time in his family . They ’ re all going through this hard time because he had had twin daughters that were prematurely born , and they were born maybe three months early . So this song , “ Shelter ,” was just about that time , about the Lord being our protection , a place to run to in a time of need . And man , each time I hear that song , I ’ m just reminded of what the Lord brought him through and has brought me through … just a beautiful experience .
[ WM ] Tell us about the writing tools you are using . The brands of your instruments and recording tools ?
[ Andrew ] Gear is definitely a huge part of the creative process and I think having sounds that are inspiring are really important for writing , for producing … for creating .
Some of my favorite things to use as far as piano sound goes is there ’ s a company called Art Vista that makes a piano plug-in called “ Virtual Grand ”. It ’ s just a very believable , very inspiring sounding piano .
For guitar , I often use an actually fairly cheap guitar called “ The Recording King .” I think the model is a RDS7 . I think I maybe got it for a hundred bucks , but it ’ s a really nice sounding acoustic guitar that ’ s creative to play , inspiring to play . And then for a microphone ( this is a bit
