and I’ m working 100 hours a week. We’ re busting at the seams in my closed-in carportturned-lab, but I won’ t hire anyone until I can guarantee them a stable, lifelong career. I’ ve seen too many layoffs in this industry to do that to someone prematurely.
[ WM ] It sounds like a true labor of love. For the worship leaders and studio engineers reading this, why should they look at United Studio Technologies over the bigger, flashier brands?
[ Chad ] Because we don’ t drop the ball on the little things. Whether it’ s the tension of the swivel arm on our FET 47— which I set by feel so it doesn’ t tilt overnight and ruin your kick drum sound— or the custom RF filters we add to solve a problem for just one user, we care about the whole experience. I want to give you as much microphone as humanly possible for your dollar.
[ WM ] What’ s the five-year plan for United? Are we going to see original designs or maybe digital interfaces?
[ Chad ] I’ m not opposed to growth; I just want to do it responsibly. I have a 10-year plan that includes original products and digital converters— we even have an old design called the Trivium I’ d love to revisit. But for now, I’ m focused on making sure every mic that leaves my work bench is as perfect as possible.

UNITED STUDIO TECHNOLOGIES UT TUBE67 LARGE-DIAPHRAGM TUBE CONDENSER MICROPHONE
The United Studio Technologies UT Tube67 microphone is a large-diaphragm tube condenser designed to capture the depth, detail, and musicality associated with classic studio microphones, while offering modern reliability and flexibility. Built around a custom K67-style capsule and a U. S.-made BV12-style transformer, the Tube67 delivers a full-bodied tone with a slightly forward midrange and smooth top end, making it a strong choice for vocals, acoustic instruments, and studio workhorse duties. Its vacuum tube amplifier— based on an EF86 / EF806 pentode— adds harmonic richness and dimension, while maintaining low selfnoise and a wide frequency response from 20 Hz to 20 kHz.
What sets the Tube67 apart is its versatility and thoughtful feature set. Users can select between cardioid, omnidirectional, and figure-of-eight polar patterns, along with onboard controls like a high-pass filter,-10 dB pad, and the unique“ Air Mod,” which introduces a subtle high-frequency lift for added clarity and presence. The microphone connects via a dedicated external power supply using a 7-pin cable, eliminating the need for phantom power and ensuring stable operation. With a maximum SPL of 137 dB and a robust, precision-built chassis, the UT Tube67 is designed not only for premium sound quality but also for longterm durability in both professional and project studio environments.
