Few worship leaders write with the poetic depth and biblical imagination that Brooke Ligertwood consistently brings to her music and EAT continues that tradition. Released in May 2026, this ten-song collection feels less like a conventional worship album and more like a devotional journey centered on spiritual hunger, dependence, and the sustaining presence of God.
From the opening moments, Ligertwood invites listeners into a reflective atmosphere where Scripture, prayer, and worship intersect. The album’ s title serves as a fitting metaphor throughout the project, emphasizing the believer’ s need to continually receive from God rather than merely observe Him from a distance. The songs are rich with biblical imagery and thoughtfully crafted lyrics that reward repeated listening.
“ The Water,” is a beautiful collaboration that captures the refreshing and life-giving nature of God’ s presence. The song combines a memorable
One Sonic Society frontman and veteran worship writer, Jason Ingram lends his lead vocal on the hope-infused,“ Looking” which he co-wrote with Ligertwood. This mid-tempo vertically themed song of worship would serve as a nice transition peace when going into a time of personal confession or as an intro to a communion element during your service.
“ Watchmen” and“ Though War Break Out Against Me” also deserve mention for their scriptural foundations and their emphasis on perseverance and trust. These songs feel especially suited for personal worship and prayer, offering reminders of God’ s faithfulness amid uncertainty.
Musically, EAT remains firmly rooted in the modern worship sound that has characterized much of Ligertwood’ s recent work. The arrangements are polished and accessible, allowing the lyrics and melodies to remain the focal point. Her vocal delivery continues to be one of her greatest strengths— warm, expressive, and capable of conveying both intimacy and conviction.
The only slight misstep with this collection from Ligertwood that I noticed is that the back half of the album tended to run together and it would have been nice to have another burst of musical energy within the last few tracks as they seemed to sound the same.
EAT is another strong offering from Brooke Ligertwood. It showcases her gift for combining Scripture, theology, and worship in a way that encourages believers to draw nearer to Christ.

For more than two decades, Chris Tomlin has built a reputation as one of modern worship music’ s most dependable voices. From“ How Great Is Our God” to“ Good Good Father” and“ Holy Forever,” Tomlin has consistently written songs that are both accessible for congregations and deeply rooted in Scripture. His newest release, The King Is Still the King, continues that tradition while offering a slightly broader musical palette than listeners may expect.
At its core, this album feels like a return to the simple strength that has always made Tomlin effective: songs centered squarely on the character and authority of Jesus. While some modern worship projects lean heavily into atmosphere and emotional introspection,
