Some observations …
The name Surfliner is a throwback to the Orange County, CA surf community where offset shaped guitar bodies ruled the surf music. Think Fender Jaguar and Jazzmaster. I credit Guild for using the Surfliner moniker. Well played. The extended headstock length with six on one side tuners also has a little bit of a Gibson Firebird feel too.
COSMETICALLY – the Glacier Blue color is gorgeous with matching headstock paint. The chrome pick-up selector tip feels solid, plus the volume and tone control knobs and the chrome backplate the Guild logo looks sharp. The white faux tortoise shell pickguard is pretty.
PLAYABILITY – The rosewood bound fretboard is flat, wide and fast and the C-shaped roasted bolt-on maple neck feels great in your hands from the first fret to the 21 st.
Fretwork is solid, the locking tuners are a plus and the Guild Floating Vibrato Tailpiece works
